Alan Semok Ventriloquial Figures are individually hand crafted at the DUMMY DOCTOR WORKSHOP in Somerset, NJ.
Since 1966, he has built hundreds of vent figures, hand puppets, and marionettes (including puppets for network television programs and commercials). However, he has always stressed quality over quantity. The extreme rarity of his figures on the “used dummy market” is a testament to the value the owners place on Alan’s work!! Alan does an excellent job!
“I got my first truly professional figure from Alan and he consulted with me to help me make the best possible decision. He is a fantastic figure maker as well as mentor!”
- Daniel Jay
“Alan took a basket case Marshall head and but him back to his working glory. with blinkers, moving eyebrows and self-centering up and down and side to side eyes. Alan Constantly communicated the progress either by email or a personal phone call. He didn't send the head back until the mechanics were right and worry free.”
- Bill Crowe
“I purchased my first PRO figure (Gitch) from Alan back in 1979. He looks and works today just as he did 36 years ago! Alan also made Papa back in 1978 for Johnny Main (now part of my collection and used in my act thanks to Johnny Jr.) Both figures look like the day they left Alan's shop and still have the ORIGINAL strings! Alan also made my son Peter's figure, which he named Alan Rogers.”
- Pete Michaels
Great Figure Maker
“Alan created my figure, Chip Martin, in the 1980's. Several years later he made a backup copy for me. Alan's work is superb. I've never had any type of mechanical issues, even with all of the travel I've done with the figure. I highly recommenced Alan's work. First class and worth every penny.”
- Dale Brown
“Alan is a gem and his figures are classic perfection. He has been creating figures for long enough what to do and what not to do and it shows. Every interaction I’ve had with Alan has been wonderful. He’s a genuine, helpful person and a standup guy. I can’t say enough about him and his work. I own two of Alan’s figures. Alan’s figures are what I used to define what a vent figure should look like when I first started in vent. Thank you Alan for sharing your art and setting the bar high for all.”

Stand up guy!
“Had done many projects with him to huge success !”
Best of the best!
“Alan's figures are exquisite works of art. They are the equivalent of Stradivarius violins. The charm, character and mechanics of Alan's figures are second to none. Apart from being an expert maker, consummate vent performer and a wonderful actor, Alan Semok is a true gentlemen who cares about other people. Alan and his work are legendary in the international vent community.”

My Semok figure SKIP
“The first time that I saw my Semok figure that I call SKIP was with Alan Semok at the ConVENTion of 1982 in Kentucky. I knew that he was made for me and I was fortunate to be able to get the little guy that has been with me in different venues including being a clown in a number of circus appearances. I have another of Alan's figures, Scott. They are both a treat to work with and have been with me in Parades in Indiana and Florida. Thanks Alan! Dennis Meeks "Bubbles The Clown"”

“I purchased my very first figure from Alan Semok. I'm new to vent, coming from years of mom at home after a short stint in college of clowning and using puppets in education, and this fellow is a joy to use! Mine is rustic, with blinking eyes and a silly, not overly bright expression. Just wonderful! I love how smooth and quiet everything works, no clicks, clacks, or speaks, just smooth instant and very very quiet. I can see myself using this fellow forever.”

“I have my very first professional figure and he is delightful! I had no idea what I needed until Alan sent me a photo of the figure he was working on and it was a match! In moments the grin on this fellow had me doing a new voice complete with personality that just nearly designed himself. I am having so much fun, and I think Goody says it best in our dialog where I say, "I think we need a lot of work" and Goody replies, "Naw toots! You need work, I'm perfect."”
