Like most people involved in ventriloquism - either performing or figure making - Dan had an interest at an early age with several pullstring figures in his arsenal. Attempted his first figure at the age of 8. Slathered wood putty on foil which covered his Danny O'Days face. Needless to say this was not a very successful project and didn't give it another shot until he was about 11 years old. This time he used paper mache to cast Danny and ping pong ball eyes and even a spitter. Not too impressive either but a far cry better than his first attempt.

Kenny Croes discovered ventriloquism after receiving a Jerry Mahoney doll on his 6th birthday. He also got a copy of Paul Winchell’s “Ventriloquism for Fun and Profit”. He worked up an act and entertained at service clubs, birthday parties, talent shows and school assemblies throughout his childhood. At age 11, he learned to play the guitar and soon discovered that girls liked that. So he set aside his dummy and launched a career as a singer-songwriter-entertainer. He became a regular at the famous Pasadena Ice House, eventually landing a songwriting contract with Criterion Music in Hollywood.
Kenny’s entertainment career also included a two-year stint as a street performer in San Francisco. He partnered with Actor- Magician Harry Anderson in a very successful street act that concluded with Kenny performing ventriloquism.
Today, Kenny performs occasionally, but spends most of his time in his Bandon, Oregon workshop designing and building vent figures for others to enjoy.

When Mike was 18, he built his first ventriloquist figure out of plastic wood. Then he started to learn about sculpting, what to make the figures out of and in the mid 90′s he began his ventriloquist figure making venture.

Throughout the 4 months of shooting, Land lent his expertise to director/producersTrey Parker and Matt Stone who, shot by shot, relied on his 25 years
of marionette experience to help them create their landmark film. Other screen credits include Disney's The Princess Diaries 2, for which he created and performed a Julie Andrews look-alike marionette, seen on the Special Features section of the DVD. Tims love of ventriloquism began at an early age after seeing a ventriloquist at his grandparents Christian camp. Tim soon learned that when “a dummy talks, people listen!”
As time went by, Tim began constructing his own characters and soon met figure maker, Chuck Jackson. Chuck became Tim’s mentor and a lifelong friendship was struck.
Tims love of details is evident in his completed characters, they just look like they are ready to speak!
Wood figures from Tim’s studio are meticulously hand carved from basswood, which comes from the Linden tree. Basswood is preferred because of its durability and very close grain, which allows for finely detailed sculpture. Linden trees grow in the forests for centuries before fully mature. Tim Selberg carefully selects only the finest kiln-dried basswood for his carved figures. Once in his skilled hands a miracle gradually takes place out of the ordinary.

Then in 2005, Tyler was introduced to professional ventriloquist and master figure builder, Greg Claassen. Their friendship quickly grew, and Greg became Tyler's mentor in the art of figure building. Before Tyler knew it, he had his own workshop and Dapper Dummies was born.
Tyler is still waiting for his big break into show business. Until that happens, he can be found spending time with his lovely wife, Amanda, or down in his dummy shop building little friends.
